The Local Security Of Çeşme Is Discussed With The Locals
The seventh of Awareness Raising Events was held in Çeşme on 2 June 2021. Within the scope of the event, it was aimed to raise awareness on the concept of civilian oversight and to seek solutions to Çeşme’s Local Security problems with the participation of Çeşme Local Prevention and Security Board members, local media and relevant NGOs.
Çeşme District Governor Ünal Çakıcı, during his opening speech, stated that many new concepts related to the internal security sector have entered our lives in recent years. “One of the most important of these is the concept of governance” he said. Stating that such practices will accelerate the positive transformation of the internal security sector, Çakıcı emphasized the importance of civilian oversight activities carried out locally. Stating that the project is an important gain for the district, Çakıcı thanked the participants for their valuable contributions.
After the opening speeches, UNDP Expert Ömer Bilen shared the results of the public opinion poll on local security. Then, two different presentations were made by UNDP expert Serra Titiz, titled “Importance of Civilian Oversight to Build Trust” and “Project Developments and Çeşme Local Prevention and Security Plan”.
In the afternoon session, creative solutions were sought for the problems of the district through group studies.
