The Fourth Workshop on Exchange of Experience was conducted in Ankara, the Capital City
The fourth workshop conducted with a view to exchanging experience acquired by Local Prevention and Security Boards established under the Project was held for Sincan District of Capital City Ankara on 15 June 2021.
The activity, in which the experience and the best practises acquired through the works of Local Prevention and Security Board in Sincan were exchanged, received broad participation including the Sincan District Governor Mr. Abdullah Küçük, UNDP representatives, members of Local Prevention and Security Board operating in the district as well as various NGOs and national and local media.
The following presentations were made in the event: “Implementation of Local Prevention and Security Plan in Sincan” by the District Governor Mr. Küçük, “Works Conducted by the Municipality Under the Project” by the Sincan Mayor Mr. İhsan Duman, “Local Prevention and Security Board Works in Sincan” by the Key Expert of UNDP in charge of Local Boards Ms. Sevcan Kılıç Akıncı, “Sustainable Employment for Elimination of the Economic Motivation that Pushes into Crime” by the Board Member of the 1st OIZ in the Chamber of Industry of Ankara and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Continuous Education Centre (ASOSEM) in the Chamber of Industry in Ankara, Mr. Serdar Tütek.
The District Governor Mr. Küçük presented the best practices conducted throughout the Project in realms of traffic security, security of areas near schools, outdoor security, and derelict buildings which are among eight security goals identified under the project. Then, the Sincan Mayor Mr. İhsan Duman presented the works conducted by the Sincan Municipality under the Project. Chairman of the Board of ASOSEM Mr. Tütek explained with scientific findings and practical examples the importance of creating jobs as one of the most important factors to prevent committing crime due to economic reasons, and the relationship between committing crime and legal income. Furthermore, he presented the business model, which has been implemented for many years by the Ankara Chamber of Industry in ASOSEM with a view to producing the qualified workforce needed for sustainable employment. In the workshop, finally, breakout sessions were conducted to develop recommendations on sustainability of the boards, and group presentations were delivered in the plenary.
