
The 5th Training for Media and NGO Representatives was held in İzmir
The fifth of the training sessions prepared for NGO and Media representatives within the scope of the goal of the Strengthening Civilian Oversight of Internal Security Sector (Phase III) Project titled ‘Personal and Institutional Capacity Building’ was held at Çeşme Altın Yunus Hotel. 65 participants including the Head of Department of Smuggling, Intelligence, Operations, and Information Gathering (KİHBİ) of the Ministry of Interior Mr. Gazi Levent Kurtoğlu, District Governor of Çeşme Mr. Ünal Çakıcı, United Nations Development Program representatives, NGO representatives working on the field of women, children, disabled people, youth, security, migration, and human rights and media members attended the training.
Delivering the opening speech of the event, The Head of Department of KİHBİ of the Ministry of Interior Mr. Gazi Levent Kurtoğlu touched upon the activities conducted under the Project. Highlighting the Local Prevention and Security Boards established in nineteen provinces, Mr. Kurtoğlu stated that they were determined to disseminate the crime prevention action nationally, which they have started locally.
Addressing local media members at the end, Mr. Kurtoğlu stated that they expected media members to support public awareness raising through following the activities of the Ministry of Interior regarding civilian oversight.
In pursuit of the opening remarks, module training sessions started. Field experts presented the modules prepared under the Project with a view to improving civilian oversight in Turkey to participants. The module training sessions continued the second day of the training. The participants completing the training were awarded certificates.
