
First Round of Awareness Raising Events is Completed
The first round of Awareness Raising Activities – which are aiming to raise awareness of the activities of Local Prevention and Security Boards – is completed.
Events are conducted online in Çorlu (February 18th, 2021), Buca (February 22nd, 2021) and Beşiktaş (February 23rd, 2021) due to pandemic conditions. The rest of the events, which are planned as a total of twenty, will be held face-to-face in the summer months.
Within the morning sessions, presentations focusing on informing the audience about the Projects’ aims and components (by Sebastian Roche, Chief Technical Advisor) and the concept of “Citizen- Focused Policing” (by Mathieu Zagrodski, International Expert) are delivered by international experts.
Following, National Opinion Poll results – which measured the level of confidence and satisfaction of the citizens with the work of ISFs – are shared with the participants. (The first poll was conducted within the Phase II of the Project is repeated under Phase III.) Thus, the changes in views and attitudes over the years could be measured. Mr. Ömer Bilen (National Short Term Expert) shared the poll results with the participants. Based on the results, participants discussed the provinces’ and districts’ important security issues.
Within the panels in the afternoon session, panellists who are members of the Local Prevention and Security Boards mentioned about the districts’ activities regarding local security and crime prevention. Views were exchanged on the action plans of the Local Prevention and Security Boards.
Within the scope of the three Awareness Raising Events, local actors working on local security came together shared their experiences and formed a stronger network.
