First Consultation Meeting on GCGA Curriculum Held in Ankara
The first consultative meeting within the scope of the A.5.9 activity of the project was held in Ankara on September 9-10 with the participation of GCGA representatives. Within the scope of the event, exchanges were made about the Civil and Democratic Oversight Modules and the process of including them to the JSGA curriculum.
After the opening remarks, UNDP expert Orhan Gerdan summarized the process of Civilian Oversight Module development. Afterwards, G. Colonel Yunus Emre Karamanoğlu mentioned about the GCGA Curriculum Development Process. Afternoon part of the event started with the presentation of UNDP Expert Professor Kerim Gündoğdu on Curriculum Development within the Framework of Turkish Higher Education Qualifications. After the presentation, a group session was held on “How to include the contents of Civil and Democratic Surveillance studies in the gendarmerie curriculum, undergraduate and graduate programs “. The results of the group studies were shared with the participants.
The second day of the program started with UNDP Specialist Dominique Lapprand’s presentation on “The French Experience in the Process of Incorporating Civilian Oversight into the Education Program”. After the presentation, a group study was conducted on techniques that can be used to measure the knowledge and skills of JSGA graduates in civilian and democratic oversight. Then, the results of the group studies were shared with the participants.
It is planned to hold a total of five consultation meetings until the end of the project.
