Creative Solutions Were Searched For Local Security Problems
In Phase III of the Project of Strengthening Civilian Oversight of Internal Security Sector, visits are being paid to pilot provinces of the Project in order to conduct Awareness Raising Meetings. Within the scope of the activities, it is aimed at raising awareness on the concept of civilian oversight, increasing visibility of the Local Prevention and Security Boards (LPSBs) established under the Project, and promoting inter institutional collaboration.
The eighth episode of the 20 events to be conducted in total was held in Istanbul on the 17th of June 2021 and hosted by Eyüpsultan District Governor Mr. İhsan Kara, representatives of the Ministry of Interior, and UNDP. Relevant academics and NGO representatives as well as the members of the Local Prevention and Security Board in Eyüpsultan district participated in the activity.
The activity started with the opening remarks, and continued with the exchange of results of the researches on national and local security. Then, presentations were made concerning the civilian oversight concept and project activities. In the afternoon, the local security action plans of the district were discussed and breakout sessions were conducted to generate innovative solutions for local security problems.
